Citizenship at Fareham Academy prepares students to play a full and active role in modern society with a focus on community cohesion. Students are taught to develop the skills to use research and evidence to support their conclusions.

Our PSHCE (Personal, Social, Health and Careers Education) programme incorporates opportunities for students to foster an awareness of democracy and government, exploring political and social issues, justice, law, managing money and making informed financial decisions.

All students participate in an active citizenship project, providing them with the opportunity to bring about impactful change within the local community through their positive actions. Active citizenship themes are topical and change each year but have lasting impact.

In 2019, students successfully campaigned for the school to become eco-friendlier and, as a result, many changes were made to the provision in the canteen and improvements to the school grounds to encourage wildlife.
