Governors
The Board of Trustees is the key strategic decision maker and vision setter in every school and Academy and they are also a key part of the system for accountability.
The Board of Trustees has a strong focus on their three core strategic functions:
-
Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
-
Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the Academy and its students, and the performance management of staff.
-
Overseeing the financial performance of the Academy and making sure its money is well spent.
The Trustees' Vision for the Academy:
-
All students are safe and nurtured.
-
We value, support and invest in our staff.
-
Students aspire to achieve beyond their academic potential irrespective of their background.
-
We cultivate life skills to widen young people’s horizons.
-
Fareham Academy is strategically led and financially secure.
Our Trustees
Remembering Keith 'Charlie' Childs
Tributes have been paid across Fareham Academy to Keith ‘Charlie’ Childs, our Chair of the Governors, who sadly passed away at the age of 69 following complications after being admitted to hospital in February.
Charlie was a huge advocate of the Academy and has been on our Governing Body since 2013, he had an amazing passion to support the Academy and our students, helping them learn and improve their Table Tennis skills and always had a huge impact. He brought a wealth of knowledge onto our Governing Body from his experience as IT project manager at Ordnance Survey, for whom he worked for more than 30 years, in healthcare as a director for South East Hants Primary Care Trust and as owner of the TTLinks business.
Charlie was a hugely active member of the community especially through Table Tennis as the lead coach Generation 2 Club, based at the Academy, of which he was a founder member since 1970.
Our thoughts and condolences are extended to his family during this incredibly difficult time. The Academy will pay their own tribute to Charlie to mark his contribution to the school.
He will be missed enormously by all.
