Rewards
As an Academy we are excited to celebrate the successes of our students on a regular basis. These rewards are done throughout the school year with regular recognition of student achievements. We also stage termly reward events to acknowledge sustained success throughout a longer period of time.
Weekly Recognition
Positive Leaders Board: Each week, students are recognized for their hard work and school-based success through the Positive Leaders board, shared during Tutor Time and Assemblies. The top 3 students from each year group, based on the previous week’s positives total, are invited to a celebratory Hot Chocolate Friday event at breaktime. Here, they can enjoy free hot chocolate and biscuits with their Head of Year. Students are also recognised for showcasing their RAK (Resilience, Aspiration, Kindness) values through the week by being nominated by their tutor to be awarded a Canteen Queue Pass to use anytime that week. Students are given instant recognition during their lessons as members of the Senior Leadership Team as well as Middle Leaders enter lessons to hand out lollipops to students showing excellent attitude to learning and effort in lessons.
Half-Termly/ Monthly Recognition
Postcards Home: Every half-term, the top 20 students of each year group receive postcards sent home to acknowledge their hard work and excellent effort. Students with 100% attendance for that half-term are also recognised with a postcard/ certificate sent home from their Head of Year. Heads of Departments also recognize hard-working students within their specific subjects by awarding Head of Department commendations and positives (Prom Badges for Year 11). Students are recognised by their Head of Year for excellent effort and attitude to learning each month by rewarding a student with the ‘Hall of Fame’ Award which includes being named on the monthly leaderboard around school, as well as a RAK (Resilience, Aspiration, Kindness) Award being given to one student each month along with a certificate to showcase this.
Termly Celebration
Celebration Assembly: At the end of each term, Heads of Year and the Senior Leadership team celebrate individual and group successes in a special Celebration Assembly. Certificates are awarded for student recognition in each subject area, along with Tutor, Head of Year, and Senior Leadership Awards. Prizes include chocolates and Amazon vouchers.
Reward Events
Our termly Reward Events are subject to a school threshold. Students need to meet this behaviour threshold to be eligible for these exciting opportunities.
Due to capacity restrictions, we also stage a Rewards Hour for students who miss out on the main event but still deserve recognition for their amazing behaviour. Main events can include students enjoying time out of curriculum lessons to take part in Silent Discos, Bingo, Cinema Experiences, Inflatable Courses & Trips.
If the number of eligible students exceeds the event's capacity, the top 30% of students in each year group will be selected for the main event.
