Sekoula Varea

After leaving Fareham Academy in 2020, Sekoula attended HSDC to study Law. However, she soon discovered that her true interests lay elsewhere. During her school years, she had already been actively involved in supporting a family-run shipping business from the age of 14, which specialised in sending commercial goods back to Fiji. This early exposure ignited a passion for logistics and community service that would later shape her professional path.

In 2023, at just 18 years old, Sekoula founded Sekoula Freight Ltd, a freight forwarding company dedicated to sending personal effects from the UK to Fiji, particularly for Fijians serving in the British Armed Forces and Veterans. Recognising the cultural importance of supporting family and village back home, a core value in Fijian society, Sekoula built her business on principles of reliability, transparency, and community connection.

Sekoula was recently honoured with a Commonwealth Business Award for her outstanding community contributions and achievements as one of the youngest business owners within the Commonwealth community.

Reflecting on her time at Fareham Academy, Sekoula said: “Fareham Academy definitely helped build me as a person. I had just moved to the UK when I joined, so I’m super grateful for all the teachers who helped and supported me throughout.”
