Day 1

Day one of the Year 8 and 9 Barcelona trip was a huge success!

After checking into their rooms at the Urbany Hostel this afternoon, the students walked to Westfield Glòries where they enjoyed some free time and stopped for lunch. They then headed back to their hostel rooms to chill out for a bit after a very early morning, before hopping on the Metro and heading into the centre of town to explore La Rambla; one of Barcelona's most famous streets!

To wrap up the day, they had dinner at Hard Rock Cafe and celebrated a birthday, ending an awesome day in Barcelona on a high note.

Students are now settling down for a well-earned rest before another long but exciting day tomorrow.

Day 2

Our students on the Barcelona trip kicked things off this morning with a Metro ride to see the Arc de Triomf, before walking through the city to attended a guided tour of the Picasso Museum. There, they delved into the genius of one of the world's most renowned artists and attempted to decipher the meaning behind some of his original works for themselves.

Afterwards, they took a leisurely stroll down to Port Vell marina, where they spent some free time and enjoyed a lunch in the sun.

Their next stop was the awe-inspiring La Sagrada Familia, where they were taken on a guided tour of the intricate architecture and rich history, learning about its creator, Gaudí, along the way.

As the day drew to a close, our students headed to their last stop of the day to tuck into a buffet at Fresco for dinner, before heading back to the hotel. There, they enjoyed some free time chatting, relaxing, and challenging each other to some games of pool.

They’ve now stocked up on snacks for their upcoming coach journey to PortAventura tomorrow and are heading to bed for some well-earned rest.

The students were fantastic during today’s navigation of the Metro and have represented the Academy brilliantly. Well done to all.

Day 3

This morning, our students on the Barcelona trip hopped on the coach for a journey to PortAventura, World; the sixth most visited theme park in Europe! There, they spent the day making brilliant memories - riding rollercoasters, trying some delicious waffles, and exploring the park.

They then travelled from PortAventura back to their hostel to freshen up for an evening of culture and flavour at Tablao Cordóbes, where they were treated to an authentic tapas dinner followed by an incredible traditional flamenco show. Staff on the trip were pleasantly surprised to see the students' willingness to try new foods. The students were captivated by the passionate flamenco performances and were respectful throughout the show.

Now, after a long day and late evening, the students have returned to their hostel and have settled into their rooms for some rest in preparation for tomorrow.

Day 4

Students on the Barcelona trip have enjoyed their last day today with a visit to La Boqueria Market; one of the oldest indoor food markets in the world, founded in the 19th century! There, they were challenged with exploring and finding the most exotic foods, with some discoveries including tripe, tongue, sheep’s head and sea urchin. They were then treated to their own key-rings by staff featuring their initials.

After leaving the market, the students wandered around the Gothic Quarter, where they saw Barcelona Cathedral and still managed to enjoy some ice cream despite the rain. They then headed to the Glòries shopping centre for lunch before heading to the airport.

Students have thoroughly enjoyed their time in Barcelona and have represented the Academy brilliantly throughout the trip.

An estimated time of arrival will be shared here on our Facebook page once they have left Heathrow Airport via coach.
