Our Year 9 and 10 students are back from their incredible trip to Berlin and Krakow after an unforgettable time exploring these historic cities.
In Berlin, they soaked up the city's rich history by visiting iconic landmarks like the Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, the East Side Gallery, and the TV Tower. They also delved deeper into the past with guided tours of the Reichstag and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum, fully immersing themselves in the history and culture.
On Thursday, our students made a poignant visit to Auschwitz where they spent the day. They toured the original concentration camp as well as Birkenau, the largest extermination camp from World War II. This was a humbling experience for the students who remained respectful and engaged throughout, while also interacting well with their tour guide. Afterwards, they returned to Krakow, where they enjoyed a well-deserved meal at the iconic Hard Rock Café in the Old Town square.
Friday in Krakow was action-packed! Our students began with a walking tour of central Krakow, exploring the beautiful Old Town, the magnificent Wawel Royal Castle, and the old Jewish Quarter where they stopped for lunch. They then went on to visit Oscar Schindler's factory, now a museum that tells the story of Poland during Nazi occupation and honors Oscar Schindler's heroic efforts to save his Jewish workers and their families.
In the evening, our students dined at a traditional Polish restaurant, where they were entertained by brilliant Polish folklore singing and dancing. Many of our students even got the chance to participate! They also celebrated a student's birthday at the restaurant.
Our students truly embraced the history and culture of Berlin and Krakow, and we're very proud of their engagement and respectful demeanor throughout the trip.
