With the heartache of losing on penalties last year, the Year 11 team were determined to maintain the record of Year 11s winning every year since the Mr Edwards Memorial Cup started.
The first half was a very even game, with Year 11s dominating possession, but the Year 10s defended resolutely. Towards the end of the half, Year 11s broke the deadlock with Ollie P scoring a header from a corner. The Year 10s managed to get to half-time 1-0 down.
The second half saw the Year 11s grow in confidence, and with two quick goals from Archie W, the game was out of the Year 10s' hands. The moment of the match came in the last kick of the game when Ethan K was brought down in the penalty area, and Mr Whiting (referee) awarded the Year 11s a penalty. With captain Liam C on the bench, the Year 11s made a substitution so Liam could step up and take the penalty. Liam slotted the ball into the top right corner to send the Year 11s into a 4-0 lead, ending the game with another Year 11 win!
After the match, the results of the Teacher Ice Bucket Challenge were revealed. With Mrs Tibbitts and Mr Clark having similar amounts of money raised in their buckets, both received the ice-cold buckets of water!
We are incredibly pleased to announce that a massive £721 was raised on the day for the charity Mind. Thank you to everyone who took part and to those who donated.
