On Wednesday 24th September, we kicked off the academic year with our first RAK Day, centred on the theme of kindness.
Throughout the day, our students explored ways to show kindness to the planet, those around them, and themselves through engaging and thought-provoking activities.
Year 7 learned about hidden illnesses with Spoonies, worked with Guide Dogs, and explored cyberbullying, prejudicial language, and upcycling.
Year 8 delved into Black history through a VAR experience, worked in our Eco Club making garden decorations, and tackled topics like sustainability, gambling, and healthy relationships.
Year 9 took part in a mock trial on hate crime, created gratitude mandalas, explored making a good first impression, and enjoyed animal therapy, learning about the benefits of animals on mental health.
Year 10 approached mature topics like FGM, relationship abuse, and online radicalisation, conducted an experiment on drink spiking, and reflected on sexism and gender stereotypes.
Our students remained engaged throughout the day, with external visitors praising their enthusiasm and focus.
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making the day a success, including: Guide Dogs UK, ZooLab, Southern Universities Network, Heroes of History, The Crown Prosecution Service (Portsmouth), Engendering Change Ltd, Stop Domestic Abuse, Online Safety UK, School of Sexuality.
