Today, Fareham Academy is proud to recognise VE Day, a momentous occasion marking the end of World War II in Europe 80 years ago. Through engaging assemblies, our students have delved into the history and significance of this day, learning about the incredible courage and sacrifices made by ordinary people during the war.
Students have explored the following:
Heroes of the Past: From soldiers and nurses to factory workers and evacuated children, VE Day celebrates the bravery of those who stood up for peace and justice.
Modern Heroes: Contemporary figures like NHS workers, Marcus Rashford, and Greta Thunberg, who embody the spirit of heroism by fighting for justice and making sacrifices for the greater good.
Reflections on Bravery: The importance of speaking up, being brave, and doing the right thing even when it's difficult.
Why We Remember VE Day: To honour those who fought for peace, to thank those who made sacrifices, to inspire ourselves to stand up for what’s right.
Join us in honouring this day and reflecting on the enduring lessons of courage and resilience.
